Three of our researchers win Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) grants for innovative projects.
Funded projects: Josep Rodés-Cabau receives $952,425 over 5 years for Medical Treatment With or Without Transcatheter Patent Foramen Ovale Closure for Older Patients with Cryptogenic Stroke and Patent Foramen Ovale: A Randomized Trial Research Proposal. Patrick Mathieu receives $1,025,100 over 5 years for his project Molecular and Genetic Epidemiology to Understand Mitral Valve Prolapse. Vincent Joseph receives $634,950 over 5 years for his project Apnea, sex and FMO: Are flavin-containing monooxygenases the new anti-ox that prevent metabolic disorders under intermittent hypoxia? And $100,000 over one year for his project Sex and sex-hormones determine pulmonary morphological and single-nucleus transcriptomic responses in an animal model of sleep apnea (transitional funding).
